estheticianMost people spend their youth wishing they were older forgetting that with age comes aging! When they do finally become older they wish we were once again young or at least, younger looking.

There is of course no miracle cream or pill that can make a senior citizen look like a teenager again, but there are definitely actions anyone can take as part of a good anti-aging skincare regimen. If you follow these quick tips, we can’t guarantee that you’ll look like a kid again but we can assure you that your skin’s tone and texture will improve, and you’ll be doing a great deal to fight wrinkles and blemishes as well.

One important part of any anti-aging skin care program is cleaning your face. It’s important to do this daily, to remove dirt, pollutants, makeup and other irritants. As we sleep, our bodies renew and re-energize themselves. That includes the skin, so cleansing before you sleep is important.

It doesn’t take much to clog the pores up with cosmetics, dirt and other small particles that can easily work their way in to you pores. What Modern Science Says About Reversing The Aging Process

There’s an old proverb that rings with wit and reason: “Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die.” So why do we want to live forever? According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, author of “Chasing Life” and CNN’s Senior Medical Corespondent, we do not.

The real quest isn’t eternal life on earth according to Gupta, but rather an exceptional life.

While interviewing the foremost authorities on anti-aging and life extension, Dr. Gupta discovered three “universals” — three principles that each researcher deemed critical to extending our lives naturally and empowering us to live exceptionally. They are:

1. Weight training?
2. Good nutrition?
3. Positive thinking and having purpose Read the rest of this entry »

The aging process begins when we enter the world and the effects of aging are evident in our bodies through out our lives. Beginning in our 20′s, the signs of aging start to become noticeable. Genetically programmed chronologic aging causes changes in collagen and elastin, the connective tissues that supply firmness and elasticity to the skin.

The genetic program of individuals is different, so the loss of skin firmness and elasticity occurs at different rates and different times in one individual as compared to another. As skin becomes less elastic, it also becomes drier and underlying fat padding begins to disappear. With the loss of underlying support by fat padding and connective tissues, the skin begins to sag; it appears less supple and wrinkles form. Although wrinkles, lines and age spots are formed by the natural effects of getting older, one way to prevent them from appearing early on in life is to avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreens with SPF’s 15 or higher. And, although most of us have some form of sun-damaged skin, there are ways to regain healthy, smooth skin. Read the rest of this entry »

@ Expedition Insipiration 2006

During the last 10 years more attention is paid to the anti aging skin care. Developments within this category were influenced by such factors as competition among the major brands, introduction of new technologies and new ingredients, as well as worldwide increase in demand for the so-called “rejuvenating cosmetics”. People have no intentions of putting up with aging. Today they are turning to alternative therapies and anti aging products; however, they will not spend money on products which do not produce the wished results.

First anti aging skin care products appeared during the late 1980s. The first liposome ingredient delivery system was part of first generation anti aging skin care.

David Jago, an expert in the market analysis for MINTEL, evaluates the changes, which have taken place since then: “At present, the special properties, ingredients and benefits of the products are clearly shown on the label. In the late 1980s, it was only said that those products were firming, softening the skin, reducing lines etc., but their functional ingredients were usually not disclosed. Todays press often informs us of specific ingredients and their benefits, thus contributing to the consumers education”. As a result, there appeared a category of skin care products intended for specific age groups or needs. Usually, women aim at making their aging skin look younger, or their young skin – healthier.
